My Audible Wishlist #5
Sci-fi with humor is not anything new, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams is a well-known example, and John Scalzi’s Old Man’s War was published way back in 2005. Since then, there is a trend toward funny sci-fi, because: Hello! People like it, duh.
We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis Taylor
A more recent example of sci-fi with humor is the hugely-popular Bobiverse series by Dennis Taylor. The first book in that series is We Are Legion (We Are Bob). It's on my must-listen list.
Bob’s Saucer Repair by Jerry Boyd
Sticking with Bob-themed sci-fi books, for a lighter romp of a tale, try Bob’s Saucer Repair, the first book in the Bob and Nikki series by Jerry Boyd.
Florida Man by Mike Baron
Not sci-fi but narrated by the incomparable R.C. Bray (who must have had FUN with this one), this tale about the misadventures of a Florida redneck is 100% accurate, which I can say since I am a resident of Florida. This audiobook is probably best enjoyed with a pitcher of Margaritas, or a six-pack of the cheapest beer you can find.
Cowboy Necromancer by Harmon Cooper
Pushing the envelope, you might try Cowboy Necromancer; a mix of Weird Western, fantasy and humor by Harmon Cooper. When you finish the audiobook, you might ask yourself “WTF did I just listen to?”, and your life will be better for it.
